Overview

As an outsourced designer for EPAM, I contributed to Ketcher, a molecular editing tool designed for life sciences professionals. Over six months, I focused on enhancing usability by designing selection tools, hover effects, tooltips, and other interactive components, alongside maintaining and creating new design elements.

Challenge

The project required balancing the technical needs of a specialized user base with the creation of intuitive design solutions. Collaborating with another designer from a different country, stakeholders, and a development team on a daily basis added complexity to the design and implementation process.

Approach

I collaborated closely with stakeholders to understand project requirements and user needs. My work included prototyping, creating responsive interactions, and developing new components like hovers and tooltips. I ensured a smooth design handoff by working daily with the development team, addressing feedback promptly and iterating as needed.

Results

My contributions improved the platform’s usability, enabling scientists and researchers to navigate and use Ketcher more effectively. By streamlining workflows and delivering polished designs, I helped make Ketcher a more robust and user-friendly tool, meeting both user expectations and technical requirements.
